We are proud to participate in Battle of the Books, an exciting reading competition sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). This program is open to elementary students and is led by our amazing media coordinator, Mrs. Lewis. Mrs. Lewis selects excellent 4th and 5th graders to represent our school at the county competition.
Students read a list of pre-selected books over several months and then work as a team to compete in a quiz-bowl style tournament. They are asked detailed questions about the books and must know the titles and authors. It’s a great way to encourage deep reading, teamwork, and a love of literature!
Mrs. Lewis guides and coaches the team throughout the year, helping students dive into new genres, build confidence, and have fun while learning. We’re so thankful for her leadership and dedication to growing strong readers at Bolivia!

NC Project Fitness is a district-wide physical fitness competition where selected elementary students from across the county come together to compete in a variety of athletic events. It's a fun and exciting way to promote health, wellness, teamwork, and school spirit among students.
At Bolivia Elementary, our P.E. teacher Coach Pierce leads this initiative. She holds tryouts during the school day to select students who will represent our school. Participants train and prepare for events that challenge their strength, agility, endurance, and coordination.
The event is designed to help students build confidence, stay active, and learn the value of sportsmanship—all while having fun and connecting with peers from other school.
